TRIP TRACKS
Trip Tracks is live, a road trip playlist that changes with your drive
TRIP TRACKS (beta) builds route-aware playlists, literally mapping your trip and filling it with local artists from along the way.
You drop in your origin and destination, and Trip Tracks:
• maps your route
• figures out your total drive time
• finds regional artists every few miles
• builds a playlist that lasts your whole trip (with verified Spotify links)
So as you drive, the sound shifts with the scenery, like the road has its own rhythm.
It’s not fully automatic yet. Spotify integration for custom GPTs isn’t live (soon, hopefully!), so Trip Tracks currently gives you a full Playlist Manifest: detailed, local, and beautifully sequenced — but you still have to drop the tracks into Spotify yourself. Even so, the results are awesome.
I’ve tried it a few times outside the custom GPT, and it is kind of magic.
Some version of this idea came out of a conversation with Matt Garcia about 10 years ago. I also give some credit to Ryan McManus, the best mixed-tape-maker I know (and probably will hate the idea of this GPT). He taught me the importance of a sequence, and while this maps things to your drive, I realize it isn’t the same.
Open it, type your route, and enjoy the ride.
